Data & Software Engineer — Full-Time Career Path
FlightBI LLC | Remote | Paid | Part-Time or Full-Time Entry
About FlightBI
FlightBI is an aviation technology and analytics company that develops data and SaaS products used by airports, airlines, tourism organizations, consultants, and other aviation industry professionals.
Our Fligence platform combines large-scale aviation and travel data, analytical models, cloud data infrastructure, and SaaS applications to help aviation organizations understand passenger demand, market opportunities, airport catchment areas, traffic leakage, and other strategic questions.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Data & Software Engineer who is excited to work across the entire data-to-product lifecycle.
This is not a role where you will spend your first year working on isolated training projects. You will contribute directly to real datasets, production data pipelines, APIs, analytical models, and SaaS products used by aviation industry clients.
The role is primarily focused on data engineering and analytical problem-solving, with opportunities to contribute to our SaaS applications built with Java/Spring Boot and Angular.
We do not expect an early-career candidate to already be an expert in every technology we use. We are looking for someone with strong fundamentals, curiosity, analytical judgment, and the ability to learn quickly.
What You’ll Work On
- Build and optimize data-processing and ETL workflows using Python and SQL
- Process large-scale airline, airport, passenger, schedule, geographic, and travel datasets
- Develop and maintain cloud data pipelines using technologies such as Snowflake and AWS
- Investigate data anomalies and build processes to improve data quality, validation, and reliability
- Improve automation, scalability, and processing efficiency
- Turn processed data and analytical results into features for FlightBI’s SaaS products
- Develop backend services and REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot
- Contribute to web applications built with Angular and TypeScriptd
- Support forecasting, demand estimation, statistical analysis, and other aviation analytical models
- Use modern AI development tools to accelerate programming while independently reviewing, testing, and validating the results
- Take increasing ownership of projects from raw data through production deployment
What We’re Looking For
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Operations Research, Economics, or another quantitative/technical field
- Strong Python and SQL skills
- Strong programming and problem-solving fundamentals
- Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning
- Interest in both working with data and building software
- Ability to investigate unfamiliar problems and learn new technologies independently
- Attention to data quality, correctness, testing, and maintainability
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred, But Not Required
Experience with any of the following is helpful:
Java, Spring Boot, Angular, TypeScript/JavaScript, Snowflake, AWS, Apache Airflow, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, Git, statistical analysis, forecasting, regression, machine learning, or large-scale datasets.
Experience in aviation is not required.
Two Ways to Start
Current Students
Students completing their degree may begin part-time (approximately 15–20 hours per week) during the academic term. You’ll work on real FlightBI projects while completing your degree, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent full-time position after graduation.
Recent Graduates
Candidates who are available immediately may begin with an approximately 8-week paid full-time working period, with the opportunity to transition directly into a permanent full-time Data & Software Engineer position. Exceptional candidates may receive a full-time offer earlier.
Why FlightBI?
- Work on meaningful production systems early in your career
- Work with large, complex, real-world aviation datasets
- Build across the entire data → analytics → API → SaaS product lifecycle
- Gain hands-on experience with Python, SQL, Snowflake, AWS, Java/Spring Boot, Angular, and production cloud systems
- See your work incorporated into products used by real aviation industry clients
- Work directly with FlightBI’s founder, who brings 25 years of experience in aviation, data science, and software technology
- Gain broad technical and business exposure in an entrepreneurial environment
- Opportunity to grow into significant technical ownership as FlightBI expands
- Clear pathway to a long-term full-time position
