Exploration is a process of learning more about yourself and the world of work through personal reflection, testing out your options, and planning your career. Career Counselors are here to help with all of these topics. Our community can help you identify your interests, gain experience, and choose majors, minors, and careers that align with your priorities. Schedule an exploration appointment on Handshake or visit drop-ins in Clemons Library to start the conversation.

PathwayU is a platform an assessment to help you identify education and career pathways that align with your unique interests and values. The assessment includes interests, values, personality, and workplace preferences and detailed information about career paths. It takes less than 20 minutes to complete.

Did you know that UVA has over 900 registered organizations led by students? Student groups like Contracted Independent Organizations (CIOs) and Greek Life are a great way to learn about topics that interest you, meet new people, and practice professional skills like teamwork and leadership. This experience can also go on your resume.
While some CIOs require an application for membership, more than half are open to all students.
Part-time work in a student job at UVA, or back home during breaks is an excellent way to explore work roles and gain experience to help you land future roles.
