We welcome the opportunity with faculty and staff on workshops, classroom presentations or assignments, and programs.

The Career Center is happy to support career activities or assignments related to your students. You can request Career Center presentations or workshops, include career assignments in your curriculum, invite alumni or professionals to speak to students, or identify skills already embedded in your class using the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness competencies as a framework.Â
Career Communities connect students to the world of work by providing access to specific advising, resources, mentors, and jobs. Career Communities include:
•   Tailored advising with career counselors who specialize in your area of interest  Â
•   Guided exploration of industries, graduate and professional school, and careers  Â
•   Email newsletters with handpicked jobs & internships, career programs, and industry advice  Â
•   Opportunities to learn the skills you need in your field of interest   Â
•   Connections to alumni, employers, jobs, and internshipsÂ
Career counselors and our exploration team support students in exploring their interests, skills, and values and how they may connect to future majors and/or career paths through advising and resources like the PathwayU career assessment. We put on educational programs to help students learn about various career options throughout the year.
Encourage students to use Handshake and set up their profiles. You can also refer students to Career Communities and encourage them to sign up for newsletters and industry advising to learn more about timelines, application expectations, networking opportunities, and more. Yes! Our office provides pre-health and pre-law advising for students interested in professional school, and also helps support students with applications, personal statements, and interviews for graduate school.Â
We welcome faculty partnerships and know faculty may have valuable industry insights and connections. You can partner by referring alumni or employers to our employer relations team to create a partnership with UVA, co-host events with employers or alumni such as career treks, or attend a lunch with employers interested in hiring students.
