Outreach programs bring the Career Center to you. We collaborate with faculty, staff, student organizations, and other groups at UVA to share career knowledge with the student body. A Career Center representative can visit your classroom, residence hall, or club meeting to present an overview of our services, discuss a specific career topic, and answer questions. We also welcome requests to partner on large-scale events as staffing allows.

Please read the description of each outreach type below, and complete the corresponding form to request a program. We look forward to working with you!

Career Workshops and Tabling

Career workshops typically last between 45 to 60 minutes and can be scheduled for student organizations, classes, or events. These workshops are often led by Career Peer Educators, student employees who serve as ambassadors of the Career Center to the student body. Career Peer Educators are also available to table at your event to provide general information about the Career Center and answer questions. Career workshops and tabling are offered during the fall and spring semesters. Requests must be received at least TWO weeks prior to the workshop date to allow enough time for scheduling. The following career workshop topics are available to be requested:

  • What Can the Career Center Do for Me?
  • Acing the Interview
  • Resumes, References, and Cover Letters
  • Networking 101
  • Pre-Health Advising Overview

Engagements Classroom Presentations

Designed specifically for the short time frame of an Engagements Classroom, this presentation provides students with an overview of Career Center resources and services, appropriate for all majors and career interests. In just 20 minutes, your students will learn from Peer Educators how the Career Center can support them during their time at UVA and beyond. Requests must be received at least TWO weeks prior to the presentation date to allow enough time for scheduling.

Event Partnerships

The Career Center welcomes requests to co-sponsor events that require significant assistance with planning and logistics. Partnership requests must be received at least SIX weeks before the event date and will be reviewed in the context of existing Career Center events and staff capacity. Event partners should obtain 40-50 RSVPs for a partnership event. If the RSVPs are not obtained, the Career Center might need to reschedule or cancel to best support student needs.
