Dean & Company is a highly quantitative, boutique strategy consulting firm with a unique mix of both traditional business strategy development and a range of investment advisory work; our clients include large corporations and private equity funds. We work with senior executives to dramatically and sustainably improve their company’s performance, often in situations where they are facing new, complex, and unstructured problems or opportunities. Our fact-based, analytical, and hands-on approach, combined with our commitment to create actionable solutions and to work with our clients to see them through implementation, provides a compelling and unique value proposition.

The firm’s capabilities span a range of industries and business issues.  At any one point in time, the focus is generally in two areas given our relatively small size.  In the past these areas have included: telecommunications, private equity, financial services, life sciences, manufacturing, technology, and more. We have experience across a range of business issues including pricing, business development, competitor analysis, benchmarking, distribution, product planning, due diligence and M & A.

As with any successful entity, Dean & Company can attribute most of its sustained achievement to a single factor: the quality of our people. Beginning with a highly experienced management team, Dean & Company focuses on attracting and retaining professionals of the highest caliber. The diversity of our individuals’ backgrounds and skill sets further enables us to address the type of new, complex, and often unstructured problems that our clients face.

Jake Weinberg graduated in 2018 with a B.S. in Commerce with concentrations in Finance and IT and a minor in Economics. He began at Dean & Company as an Analyst from which he was promoted to Senior Analyst. Jake currently holds the position of Associate. He chose Dean & Company because of the company's unique small firm environment. He enjoys being exposed to high-ranking officers within his clientele and the ability to work closely with Dean & Company's management closely. The firm has also trusted Jake with a lot of responsibility from day one, which has allowed him to very easily see the direct impact that he has on his clients and projects. For students who are entering the recruitment cycle this year, Jake suggests that you take the time to find the job that is right for you, to not jump at the first company that gives you an offer, and to relax as much as possible during your interview.

Vienna Donnelly, Class of 2021, majored in Systems Engineering and minored in Computer Science. She currently works as an Analyst at Dean & Company. Vienna enjoys the smaller sized firm environment that Dean & Company has cultivated. While interviewing, she felt like she was able to get to know many of her current colleagues and witnessed many friendships that employees had with each other. Since joining the firm, she has enjoyed the friendships and supportive environment as well as the mentorship she has experienced from more senior analysts. Vienna suggests to students to treat the case portion and conversational aspects of the interview with equal importance. She felt that she was often most focused on the case portion, but the conversational portion is important for companies to learn about your personality and for you to learn about your possible future company and future colleagues. She also suggests that students take time to assess what aspects of the job or company they are most passionate about and to ask questions about those parts.
