A Career Apart: Life in the CIA (Great Hall in Garrett Hall, September 8 from 2-3pm)

Join us for a conversation with two retired intelligence officials during this kick-off program for ISC Week. Current UVA MPP student interview two former CIA Operations Officers, Tom Billard and Rick Hotchner, about the challenges and highlights of their unique careers.

Attend this session to discover the variety of agencies that exist and learn how to find information on the types of opportunities that exist within this secretive industry!

Federal Resume Workshop with ONI & Resume Drop-Ins with Career Counselors (Clemons 204, September 12, 10am-noon)

Planning to attend programs during Intelligence and Security Careers Week? Getting ready to submit your applications for internships or full-time positions? Stop by these drop-in hours to chat with one of our Public Service & Government Career Counselors to do a quick resume review and make sure that your resume is tailored and ready to go for positions in intelligence and security work. Stop by right at 10am to hear from a representative from the Office of Naval Intelligence discuss how to best build a federal resume!

Public Service & Government Career Drop-Ins (Clemons Library, 2nd floor, Wednesdays from 1:30-4:30pm)

Thinking about careers in intelligence? Want to explore similar career paths in public service & government? Working on your resume or elevator pitch for the Intelligence & Security Career Fair? Stop by our Public Service & Government (PSG) Career Drop-In Hours, which happen every Wednesday on the 2nd floor of Clemons Library from 1:30-4:30pm.

Navigating the Security Clearance Process (Great Hall, Garrett Hall, September 13, 5-6:00pm)

Are you applying to a position that requires a security clearance? Attend this session to learn what experiences and behaviors to avoid so that you move through the process smoothly! This session will also give you the opportunity to talk-through the different steps needed for your clearance and what to expect in that process (ex. forms, polygraph test, interview, etc.).

Intelligence Simulation led by the National Security Policy Center (Great Hall, Garrett Hall, September 14, 4-5:30pm)

Students will participate in a tabletop exercise simulating the creation of a President’s Daily Brief after a series of coups take place in Africa. Working in teams as analysts from the intelligence agencies, students will use a scenario provided to evaluate information, create intelligence, and evaluate potential geopolitical impacts. They will learn about the intelligence process, the agencies’ collection specialties, and how collaboration works across the Intelligence Community. This event is open to students of all years and majors - but please note that there is A LIMIT OF 30 SEATS - so make sure to register!
