Bio

From 2017-2019, Luke served with Peace Corps as a Health Outreach and Development Facilitator in Chirodzi, Mozambique. As the University of Virginia Peace Corps Recruiter Luke will support students in their understanding of Peace Corps, provide assistance with the application process, and strengthen relationships between Peace Corps and Student Organizations. His two years of service gave Luke extensive exposure to a community and culture very different than his own all through the lens of a preventative health practitioner, specifically working with Mozambique's HIV/AIDS epidemic. Identifying the needs of the community and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders and counterparts are some of the skills Luke acquired during his service. Luke's intention in this role at the University of Virginia is to share the stories and skills he acquired through Peace Corps and his abundant cross-cultural, integrated experiences with any student interested in learning about this extremely enriching commitment.
