Chicago
- Both the University of Illinois at Chicago and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago offer summer housing for area interns.
- If you'd prefer to live in apartments rather than dorms, reach out to the Buckingham regarding vacancies.
- University Center – Housing in downtown Chicago with short, flexible leases available.
New York
- EHS Student Housing will help ease your transition to life in the city by not only providing housing, but also offering a Student Life Program that helps create a community among participating students.
- Leverage New York's network of colleges and universities, like Columbia, The New School, School of Visual Arts, FIT, and NYU to find summer housing.
- The Webster, located in midtown Manhattan, offers housing for working women and female college students. Rent covers a maid service and two meals a day.
- International students may apply to live in the International House located near Columbia University.
- Like International House, 92Y Residence offers housing for international students studying or working in New York for the summer.
- The New York Times' Real Estate Section offers a comprehensive list of available housing in or around the city. Make sure to conduct an independent vetting process before signing on to any lease.

- The Catholic University of America offers summer housing to anyone engaged in an educational program, like an internship, co-op, or research study.
- George Mason University and George Washington University repurpose their residence halls during the summer to provide apartment-style accommodations for college students working in the area.
- Georgetown University offers a wide variety of housing options, including law campus accommodations, located within walking distance of the vibrant city of Georgetown.
- Craigslist DC offers a comprehensive list of available housing in or around the city. Make sure to conduct an independent vetting process before signing on to any lease.
- DC Pages not only provides a list of housing options, but also suggests fun events with its online calendar.
- Since 1887, Thompson-Markward Hall has provided housing for Christian young women living in the Capital.
- If you're an international student, don't forget to check out the International Student House of Washington D.C., a non-profit organization committed to promoting global citizenship.
- If you secure an internship with the Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, you may elect to live in one of its two housing facilities.

- Internhousing.com – Search for roommates and apartments during a summer internship.
Nationwide
- Many companies subscribe to Internhousing.com to help their interns find summer housing. If your employer has subscribed, you may receive free access to the resource.
- Airbnb, the website that has revolutionized traveling on the cheap by advertising homestays, now features sublets.
- Search a local university's ULoop (New window)">ULoop site (e.g. ULoop UVA) to find posts by students looking to sublet their apartments.
- Padmapper displays Craiglist-like posts on a map to improve the ease of sifting through rental listings.
- Use Walk Score as another tool to evaluate summer housing options. If you're looking for a safe and walkable location, look for housing that receives a score of 75 or above.
