FAQs:

  • How do I register?

    • Visit the 2020 FinTech registration page for more details on how to register. Note: you’ll be required to register for each session you’re interested in separately.

  • When can I register for each session?

    • You can begin registering today!

  • How do I prepare for the event?

    • Take a look at the list of companies attending, and do a bit of background research on them to have a baseline understanding of what services they provide, what they specialize in, and what positions they’re hiring for. Make a target list of employers that you’d like to engage with and sign up for group and one-on-one sessions, as available. If you’re unable to find an open time slot for group or one-on-one sessions, or run out of time in your own schedule during the conference, look to see when companies are hosting Information Sessions and Coffee Chats (these are listed on each firm’s Handshake page), and sign up for one of those. Practice your personal pitch and compile a list of questions for employers (do not ask questions you can easily find the answer to by Googling).

  • How do I know which sessions to register for?

    • The Welcome Address gives students a chance to simply learn about FinTech! The 1:1 Sessions are a great time for you and a recruiter to have an individual conversation about your interests, the company, and/or the FinTech field. The Mini Information Sessions are a great chance to become more familiar with a firm you had not heard of before or would like to explore more in depth. If you have more questions, please consult a Career Counselor.

  • Where do I go if I have questions during the event?

  • What is the limit on sessions I can attend?

    • The only limits set are time limits. You will not be able to double book yourself when registering for 1:1 and Mini Information Sessions.

  • How do I decide which employers to sign up for, given the limit?

    • Take a look at the list of companies attending, and do a bit of background research on them to have a baseline understanding of what services they provide, what they specialize in, and what positions they’re hiring for. Make a target list of employers that you’d like to engage with and sign up for group and one-on-one sessions, as available. Things to consider: where do they have offices? Are the offices in a location where you would want to live? If you’re looking for a niche fintech experience, do they provide that? Are they hiring students in your school year?

  • Do I need to have my camera on?

    • No, however if you plan on speaking directly with employers, particularly in 1:1 sessions, having your camera on helps establish a personal connection.

  • How do I dress for the event?

    • We would recommend dressing for this event as you would for an interview. Business professional attire is recommended to make a good impression on the employer.

  • Am I able to attend if I am a Master’s or PhD student?

    • Absolutely; we would suggest researching the firms in attendance to familiarize yourself with who typically hires professional degree candidates.
