Career Counselor / Associate Director (Engineering, Science, and Technology & Sustainability Careers)

Christie facilitates career exploration and implementation for a wide range of students with diverse backgrounds, and has a special enthusiasm for all things science. She helps connect liberal arts students to tech focused employers, alumni, and opportunities. She is also dedicated to promoting sustainability as a critical and viable career path. Christie has developed workshops, presentations, and events that help students more clearly define their skills, interests, and values, but her greatest joy is being able to work one on one with students to identify and execute their career related goals. She believes that ultimately, the professional is personal and vice versa. Christie is also concerned with promoting positive outcomes for underrepresented populations.

Christie joined the UVA Career Center in August 2013. Prior to her work as a counselor, she worked in legal placement and recruitment, and worked as an administrator for the IT department of a teaching hospital in New York City.

Christie completed her undergraduate work at New York University. After receiving her B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication, she earned her Master's in Mental Health Counseling at Fordham University.

She welcomes the opportunity to foster connections with alumni, employers and students who share her interests in and passions for science, sustainabilty, and social justice.
