Juliana Cañas Baena

Assistant Director, Skills and Experience Programs

As the Assistant Director of Skills and Experience Programs, Juliana helps students gain meaningful co-curricular experiences that support career exploration. In particular, Juliana oversees the Truist Financial Education and Leadership Academy which is a fully funded, immersive, living and learning experience designed to support African-American students explore careers in finance.

Prior to joining the Career Center in August 2021, Juliana worked at Baylor University as a Residence Hall Director. In this role, Juliana led inclusive programmatic initiatives to support holistic student development. Juliana’s approach is inspired by the Person-In-Environment Framework and Marcia Baxter-Magolda’s Self-Authorship Theory.

Juliana graduated from Scripps College with a B.A. in Politics and International Relations and Foreign Languages. She also earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree with a focus on Mental Health and Wellness from the University of Southern California.

Juliana is passionate about supporting students of all backgrounds gain the skills and experience they need to achieve their career aspirations.
