Assistant Director for Career Exploration
As a Career Counselor Anna gets to live out her love of helping others discover and fulfill their potential. She is all about facing challenges, digging deeper, and trying new things. Failures are welcome, as are unconventional plans and ideas. As part of the Exploration Team at the Career Center, Anna focuses on working directly with students who are exploring options for majors, internships, and jobs, delving into what interests and values motivate each individual.
Anna uses the pronouns she/her/hers, and she is Safe Space trained. As part of the Career Center's Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Team, Anna is committed to creating an environment where all students feel welcomed, celebrated, and heard. She invites feedback and dialogue on how she and her colleagues in the Career Center can practice inclusive counseling and programming that celebrates all identities and works to overcome systemic bias.
Anna is a Charlottesville native and a JMU alum. She has completed a through hike of the 2,190-mile Appalachian Trail, and she loves spending time with family and friends. Prior to joining the UVA Career Center, Anna served in the Peace Corps in Bolivia, where she worked with community agencies and women's groups to improve community and environmental health for their town of 6,000 people. Anna has additional experience in educational program management with several area nonprofits and schools, and she holds an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology from the Curry School of Education.
