Join the Business Community on Slack

Want to stay up to date with the UVA Career Center Business Community? Join us on Slack to gain access to the following:

  • Daily updates on educational programs, employer updates, and job opportunities relevant to students with a business interest at UVA
  • A Q&A channel where you can ask any question about careers that is on your mind and get a quick answer from UVA Career Center counselors
  • Connection with students who are pursuing similar careers and can provide their perspective on issues you may be facing.

Here’s how to join:

  • Use this Qualtrics survey to enter your UVA Computing ID and we will use that to invite you to the Business Community Slack workspace.
    • Note: Please allow 24 hours for your request to join to be completed.
  • Download the Slack app for your desktop and/or mobile device.
  • You will receive an email from Slack confirming your invitation and inviting you to open the web browser or download the desktop or mobile app. We highly recommend downloading the app to get the best experience in Slack!
  • Once you join the workspace, you will have access to all of the channels. You can leave the ones for the careers that you feel are not relevant to you by right-clicking on the channel name, but we recommend everyone keeping the following ones: #diversityandinclusion, #general, #hoosrecruiting, #questionandanswer, and #relocationconnection

Get started!

  • Feel free to ask a question or post an opportunity you think students should know about in any channel and engage in conversations you see happening.
    • Note: Students are expecting to abide by UVA Standards of Conduct while engaging on Slack.
  • Manage your notifications in Slack to ensure that you are getting the notifications you want in real time.
  • Slack can be customized in a variety of ways. Use the Slack Help Center to customize your workspace in a way that makes sense for you!
