What am I Going to Do This Summer?
The spring 2017 semester is almost over. As a second year, I know many of you all, my fellow classmates, are worried about what you will be doing this summer. Many of you all are probably asking yourselves questions such as: “Should I get an internship?”, “Should I work?”, “Should I study abroad?”, “Should I take a summer course in Charlottesville?”, and the list goes on. The summer is a time to first relax after a hard spring semester and second to pursue anything of interest to you. Here is a list of potential things you can do:
An internship is great way to explore potential careers, gain practical skills and knowledge about a specific industry or career field. Feel free to visit the career center website internship page. This is a great resource to help you search for an internship, find out how to fund an unpaid internship, etc. Here’s the link: http://career.virginia.edu/internships
A great way to make money to save up for the next semester or to cover any current or future expenses such as traveling abroad.
A great way to explore a different country, take a course, and make memories that will last a lifetime. Visit the UVA study abroad website for all details pertaining to a specific country of interest and all the things you need to do before you study abroad. Here’s the link to their website: http://educationabroad.virginia.edu/.
Taking a Summer Course
A great way to get credits out of the way, take a pre-requisite for a major, etc. Taking a summer course is also a great opportunity to spend part of or all of a summer in Charlottesville, which I have heard is a must do! Here is the UVA summer session website link: https://summer.virginia.edu/courses. Here you will find a list of all the courses available this summer. If you are in need of financial aid visit this website: http://sfs.virginia.edu/. You must in enroll in at least 6 credits for summer session to be eligible for financial aid.
