Biography: Wendy Fan, Global Career Peer Educator and Fellow International Student
Hello! I'm a third year English and Economics major in the College. I grew up in an international school community in Shanghai, China and chose to study at UVA for its incredible English department. I hope to assist you with your professional development and connect you to Career Center resources and international student resources across Grounds.
On top of learning how to network and pitch myself to employers in the U.S., I struggled as an international student. It is difficult navigating career fairs when employers turn away once they realize that I require sponsorship. However, the Career Center counselors were able to point me towards other companies and resources. I was able to find internship opportunities in America and abroad that fit my interests and I want to help you do the same.
I am also available to engage in Chinese! Come and chat, even just to practice your handshake with me!
Welcome to international student office hours!
