Dermatologic Surgery of Central Virginia - Lab Technician Wanted!

Claire Cornell

Do you want to improve your medical resume or gain work experience in preparation for medical school, nursing school, or other health professions?

The Dermatologic Surgery of Central Virginia is looking for students eager to gain experience in a medical practice. This is a paid position, lasting for 9-12 months, with possibility to extend.  You’ll train and work as a Mohs histotechnician (a laboratory role), gaining a marketable skill and clinical experience in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology.

The role rotates between our Charlottesville and Waynesboro clinic locations, where you will receive hands-on training from our experienced histotechnicians and physicians. The position is primarily in the Mohs lab, with opportunities for clinical and surgical patient care experience.  Upon fulfillment of the position, you will be a fully trained Mohs histotechnician, understand basic cutaneous histopathology, be able to assist with surgical procedures, and have a wealth of knowledge on skin cancer and Mohs surgery.  Successful participants might pursue careers with these sought-after skills immediately, or continue their training in an academic setting.

Experience in dermatology, medicine, or a laboratory setting is preferred but not required.
