Staff Assistant Openings

Rep. John Larson is seeking a Staff Assistant for the Washington, D.C. office.  Responsibilities include:

  • managing the front office,
  • welcoming office visitors,
  • supervising interns,
  • processing flag and tour requests,
  •  organizing incoming mail and phone messages,
  • providing general administrative support to the office,
  • and other duties as assigned.

The position requires strong written and oral communication skills along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Connecticut ties are a plus, but not required. Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-7) seeks a positive, well-organized, and detail-oriented staff assistant for the Washington, DC office. Responsibilities include:

  • answering phones,
  • greeting visitors,
  • maintaining the front office,
  • assisting with various administrative and legislative duties,
  • responding to constituent requests,
  • organizing tours and flag orders,
  • and performing other duties as required. 

The position involves long hours and availability on evenings. Strong candidates will have excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail, be a team player with a positive attitude, be able to anticipate problems and offer solutions, communicate clearly in a fast-paced environment with good humor, and work effectively with different teams in both the DC and Houston offices. Texas ties are encouraged but not required. Salary is commensurate with experience. Must have a car and a valid driver’s license.
