Global Week at UVA is a celebration of the international programs and community at UVA. Join us during the week of October 19th for a showcase of international activities through a series of events. Meet alumni and students who have interned and worked abroad and learn more about the opportunities available to you. 


Career Paths for French and Italian Majors (open to all majors)

Friday, Oct. 18 | 3-4:30pm | The Language Commons, 298 Suite New Cabell Hall

Love learning about languages, literature, and culture, but looking for how to apply them? The UVA Career Center, the French and Italian Departments are sponsoring an alumni career program, followed by a networking reception and light refreshments. Hear from panelists with experience in international non-profits, trans-national tech companies, teaching and culinary service. Students of all majors are welcome.

Teaching Careers Abroad

Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019 | 6:30-8pm | The Great Hall, Garrett Hall

Interested in working abroad after graduation? Considering teaching abroad? Attend this panel to hear from experts who have taught outside of the U.S. Students will have the opportunity to hear from UVA alumni who taught internationally through the Peace Corps and other programs during the panel. Afterwards, students can connect and network with the panelists.  

Youth and Social Innovation Networking Night (open to all majors)

Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 5-7pm | Holloway Hall, Bavaro Hall

If you are interested in working with kids, changing education, or just want to make a difference with your career - this is a great opportunity! We are bringing organizations and alumni that specifically focus on working with youth in innovative ways to Grounds. This event is open to everyone-- including first and second years who may be considering the Curry School and other majors interested in working with youth. Hear from representatives from Teach for America, Accenture, Success Academy Charter Schools, and the International Rescue Committee. 

Securing a Global Internship

Wed. Oct. 23, 2019 | 5-6:30pm |  Great Hall in Garrett Hall

Do you want an abroad experience outside of the classroom? Are you interested in finding an internship abroad? Join us as we hear from current UVA students who have pursued international internships and learn what steps they took to obtain these experiences. Panelists will represent a variety of industries, regions of the world and majors. They will provide us with insight on their work abroad, and why they chose to pursue Global Internships. 

Global Development Career Night (open to all majors)

Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 | 5:30-7:30pm | Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium

Students interested in careers in global development and humanitarianism: this event is for you!  There will be multiple opportunities to learn and network with alumni, faculty, and fellow students. There will be representatives from USAID, DAI, Millennium Partners, Peace Corps, International Rescue Committee, and more! Come learn from alumni how to "break in" to a career in global development. 

Life After Politics: Global Edition (open to all majors)

Friday, Oct. 25, 2019 | 11am-3pm | Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium

Engage with alumni from the Department of Politics. Join us for a lunch, panel and flash mentoring sessions. Learn about their career paths and hear them share their best career advice for current and contemplating Politics majors.  Alumni work in a wide variety of careers and fields, including global career pathways. This event is co-sponsored by the UVA Career Center and the Department of Politics.
