LifeSci NYC Summer Internship Program

Christie Julien – September 8th, 2017

In partnership with the New York Economic Development Council the Office of the Mayor is launching a major summer internship program this summer in New York City, in order to source the best of Life Scienc and Bio tech talent and attract them to the city that never sleeps.

As part of the plan the city plans to invest $7.5 million to create internships and life sciences curricula. The City will launch a new internship program next summer that will connect at least one hundred students each year with opportunities at life sciences companies and institutions. Organizations that have already agreed to take on interns include global pharmaceutical companies, such as Roche and Eli Lilly, research institutions, such as the New York Genome Center, and investors, such as Deerfield Management. The City will also provide funding to support the development of new curricula for local colleges and universities, based on input from real employers, to prepare the next generation of life sciences talent.
