Alumni Spotlight-Adrianna Foster

Humna Sharif – April 23rd, 2018

As a postdoctoral Fellow at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Adrianna is currently conducting research in the Alaskan boreal zone using individual-based forest modeling and high-resolution remote sensing data. Her work focuses on understanding forest dynamics in the context of shifting climate and disturbance regimes.

Currently a PhD student in Marine Science at UC Santa Barbara, Kyle is studying the connection between kelp forests and sandy beaches. Kyle graduated from UVA IN 2015 with a BS and MS in Environmental Sciences. Currently in his 3rd year of PhD, Kyle plans to apply for post doc positions in the near future and hopes to come back to UVA as a faculty member someday.

Energy Intern for Prince William County VA

The Energy Intern position is for an undergraduate student with a desire to gain knowledge about energy efficiency, building science and control systems, utility usage tracking, and energy audits. The energy intern will work with Prince William County’s Energy Coordinator to manage ongoing energy efficiency efforts.

Morven Summer Institute

The Morven Summer Institute is an innovative summer program hosted at Morven Farm, an emerging landscape for interdisciplinary learning for the University of Virginia.  At the Morven Summer Institute, undergraduate and graduate students with interests in sustainability, design, food systems, and ecology have the opportunity to escape traditional confines of the classroom while working on projects with real-world applications.

Participants may select one 3-credit course from either (or both) of the 10-day summer blocks.
