Industry Timeline

The recruiting timeline for finance jobs and internships has changed significantly as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This industry has a very accelerated recruiting timeline!

Large bulge bracket investment banks begin recruiting 2nd year students for their 3rd year summer internship in the spring semester of 2nd year, though some may start recruiting prior to spring. This may mean that students are searching for a 2nd and 3rd year internship simultaneously! Employers will begin coming to grounds during spring semester, so it is important to stay up to date about programs and events so you don’t miss valuable networking opportunities.

Many firms will extend employment offers to students who participate in a summer internship. Other financial service firms, including boutique firms and middle market banks, will recruit 3rd and 4th years for additional internship opportunities and full-time positions in the summer and early fall.
