Scholarship Recipient: Joelle Miller
This summer, I will be interning with the American Bar Association's Section of Civil Rights and Social Justice. As an undergraduate intern, I will hold the responsibility of staying up to date with legislative and judicial decisions pertaining to social justice, and curating and maintaining the Section’s newsletter and social media sites. In this role, my love for writing and reporting combines with my desire to help marginalized communities through public service legal and civil rights work. One of the most important tasks of public service work, I believe, is making sure that the public is aware of current events and has accurate and accessible information—especially when the issues directly impact so many marginalized peoples’ livelihood. With all my thanks to the Larry Simpson Scholarship, I am able to pursue this enriching opportunity.
