This scholarship is designed to encourage rising 4th year students in the College of Arts & Sciences to participate in summer internships. It is administered in a collaborative arrangement between the U.Va. Alumni Association, UVA Career Center, and Student Financial Services.
An applicant must be a 3rd year University student enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences. Applicants must have been offered or obtained a summer 2015 internship in their field of interest. A letter confirming the internship offer must be submitted with the application. Interns must be enrolled for at least one semester after the end of the internship.
Please note, as well, that if your internship site location appears on the U.S. Department of State travel warning list, you will be ineligible to receive the grant. The University of Virginia Career Center cannot fund an internship in a place where you would be at risk of being harmed.
In evaluating applications, high priority will be placed on:
- The applicant's financial need, including any extenuating financial expenses relating to the internship.
- A strong connection between the internship and the student's overall academic and career goals.
- Internships with a high level of responsibility.
- The quality of the application, resume and essays.
The University of Virginia, as provided by applicable federal and state law and University policy, prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, marital status, age, sexual orientation, citizenship, or status as a covered veteran.
Application materials are due no later than noon on Monday, April 6, 2015.
