Associate Director, Business, Technology, & Entrepreneurship
As the Associate Director for Strategic Initiatives, Kelly leads strategic planning for the Career Center, alumni and parent relations (including management of the Virginia Alumni Mentoring Program), fundraising for the department, as well as teaching assistant responsibilities for the career-related courses taught by Everette Fortner. Previously, as a Career Counselor / Assistant Director (Business Community) in the UVA Career Center, Kelly primarily worked with students interested in pursuing opportunities in the world of business. Additionally, she was a general career counselor on topics ranging from career exploration to job search strategies and the transition to life after college. Kelly continues to work with the student-athlete population.
Starting out in the business world, Kelly made her way back into higher education in 2007, at her alma mater, Franklin & Marshall College. Initially focusing on housing, she expanded to student activities and, in 2010, became an assistant coach for the women’s soccer team. It was through these experiences that Kelly truly realized a passion for helping others discover their potential. She joined the UVA Career Center in January 2015 and loves using her energy and enthusiasm to facilitate others in career and student development as well as in leadership skills.
Coming from a liberal arts background, Kelly considers herself a life-long learner, and is always looking to understand new ideas and possibilities. Kelly received a B.A. in Government (minor in History) from Franklin & Marshall College, and received her M.Ed. in Student Affairs from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Kelly loves reading (and is always looking for new book suggestions), as well as playing soccer and running.
