Transatlantic Summer Academy on Sustainability

The Transatlantic Summer Academy on Sustainability – University Students Exploring Sustainability from an Intercultural Perspective will take place in Bremen, Germany. This is an event focusing on different aspects of sustainability and intercultural issues from July 21 to August 10, 2016. This program is being held for the second time (the first time in 2015 under the name “Green Summer Camp”).


ABoVE Summer Internships at NASA

Arctic Boreal Vulnerability Experiment (ABoVE) is a NASA Terrestrial Ecology Program field campaign that will be conducted in Alaska and Western Canada. ABoVE is a large-scale study of environmental change and its implications for social-ecological systems.


There are three paid summer internships available at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center for undergraduate and graduate students interested in research related to ABoVE. Applications are due through the NASA internship application system by March 1st, 2016.

Role: RAs work with residents to build community through programming and individual relationships. RAs also work closely with a staff of other RAs in weekly meetings and take part in required summer training (O-week) and ongoing training throughout the year.

The New York City Council’s Legislative Division is excited to announce the inaugural "Local Legislative Drafting Summit: The Art of Lawmaking in Cities Nationwide." The conference will be held on July 14, 15 & 16, 2016, and will be one of the first to focus solely on legislative drafting by cities, counties, towns, and other local governments.

In this competition, you will use your creativity and analytical problem solving skills to develop an innovative analytic tool that helps a bank identify fraudulent transaction behavior. Your task will be to leverage these insights and tools to develop a strategy to optimize Capital One's transaction fraud prevention strategy for the Credit Card business.

World Tank Competition

Wonk Tank is a competition platform for students (undergraduate and graduate) around the United States studying in all disciplines to pitch their foreign policy ideas directly to the U.S. Department of State. Students identify a foreign policy problem, propose a solution, and address potential pitfalls while including a link to a brief YouTube video presenting their pitch.


Astronaut Scholarship

The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation will award a $10,000 scholarship to a qualifying UVa undergraduate student.  Scholarship candidates must be majoring natural or applied science, engineering or mathematics with intentions to pursue research or advance their field upon completion of their final degrees.   Students intending to pursue a practice in professional medicine are not eligible for the scholarship.
