The YAART Fellos Programs provides an opportunity for young adults to receive training in research methods and act as advisors to research projects. The goal of the program is to partner with the community to discover and design research that answers important questions about the health of transgender and gender non-conforming young people. Check out these FAQS to learn more about YAART fellows.

Who can become a YAART fellow?
Any transgender or gender nonconforming person 18–26 can become a fellow.

Volunteer with Madison House and Help Youth Eat Healthy!

The PB &J Fund connects Charlottesville youth with the resources and knowledge necessary to help develop a healthy diet. By working with community partners to provide healthy meals and teach cooking habits, it aims to address kids’ nutritional needs at each stage of development. The PB &J Fund was created in the belief that a healthy diet should be easily accessible to all kids, just like the most famous and basic childhood food of peanut butter and jelly. Times where volunteers are especially needed are: Tuesdays, 3:30-5:30pm, Wednesdays, 4-6pm and ,Thursdays, 3:30-5:30pm.

BRSN Minority Research Forum

The Black Student Research Network (BSRN) will be hosting the First Annual Minority Research Forum on Friday, April 22nd from 12­-2pm.  BSRN is putting together a research panel in order to provide a much­-needed space for undergraduates and graduate students of color around grounds to talk about their academic research experiences here at UVA and abroad. The Forum will give students a great opportunity to showcase their work to their peers, faculty, and the wider UVA community. 

5 Tips Helpful Tips Before You Study Abroad

  1. Virtually explore the country (or countries) of interest before applying.

It is beneficial to explore the country or areas you are interested in studying/researching in to get an idea of what that program will expose you to. Studying abroad in foreign areas require adaptation to a new environment so exploring before hand can be beneficial in preparation.

Going Global is a beneficial resource in preparing to go abroad and offers cultural advice, information on passports/visas, and other helpful information!
